After 5 years of running Audi machinery, McCann Racing will switch to Porsche for their 2022 IMSA program. The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4RS Clubsport will be piloted by Michael McCann Jr. and Andrew Davis. McCann Racing sets their sights on Daytona which will take place later this month. With the continued support of McCann Plastics and new sponsor NeoMag, McCann Racing looks to take on the full season of IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge in hopes to compete for the season championship.
“I’m really excited for the 2022 season with McCann Racing,” said McCann. “I’m happy to be back in the car with Andrew and to keep our momentum moving forward from last year. We’re really looking forward to getting our hands on the new Porsche 718 GT4RS Clubsport. The IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge has proven to be such a competitive series and I can’t wait to get back out there and compete. We’re looking forward to get things started at Daytona.
“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to return to McCann Racing for another season of the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge! We made some great progress together last year, and I feel that we are in a position to show the team’s true potential this season. I really couldn’t ask for a better teammate than Michael. He and I are always on the same page working together for the common goal. His performance to date has been impressive, so I’m expecting this to be a breakout year for him.”
Davis is no stranger to Porsche, and is looking forward to being back with the iconic brand.
“To add to all the excitement is the fact that we are switching to the Porsche marque. I’ve spent a large portion of my career behind the wheel of Porsche machinery with some great results to show for it. I’m quite familiar with the previous 718 Cayman GT4 CS, and this new version of the car is sure to be strong. So, needless to say I’m looking forward to representing the brand once again.”
